Chapter – 2 : Haunting
Love vs Vengeance : Chapter 2 – Haunting
Alina kept wondering where William had gone… That night, she kept calling him repeatedly, but there was no answer. Tears welled up in Alina’s eyes. Her elder sister and parents tried to comfort her, but she couldn’t stop crying.
Just then, Bella arrived. Seeing Bella, Alina broke down completely.
Bella tried to console her. “Alina, don’t cry so much. Nothing will happen to him. Maybe he just had something urgent to take care of. Don’t worry.”
The night passed with tension and sadness.
The next morning, the police arrived at Alina’s house.
“Look, William has been missing since last night,” said Inspector Smith. “His mother filed a complaint. He last mentioned that he was going to meet you. So tell us what you know.”
Alina’s father responded, “Sir, he and my daughter have been in love for a long time. We already accepted their relationship. He was the one who arranged the party last night. But he never showed up. That’s all we know.”
Alina, overwhelmed with emotion, cried out, “Sir, is something wrong? Nothing bad happened to William, right? Please find him, sir!”
At that moment, her friend Bella arrived and hugged her tightly, trying to calm her down.
Smith turned to Bella. “Who are you?”
“She’s my daughter’s best friend,” Alina’s father said.
Smith then asked, “Bella, did you and William talk last night? After all, you two arranged the party.”
“Yes, sir. William and I planned everything together,” Bella replied. “He told me he would be there… but he never came.”
“Hm… Okay. Until this case is solved, you must remain in contact with us,” Smith instructed before leaving.
Alina collapsed in tears. Her family tried to console her.
The next day, she sat alone in the garden, lost in thought. Her father approached her. “Alina, we need to go to the police station right now.”
A deep fear settled in her heart as she accompanied him along with Bella.
At the police station, they saw William’s mother crying uncontrollably.
“Sir, my son is a good boy. Please find him!” she begged.
Inspector Smith turned to Alina. “Alina, does William or you have any enemies?”
Through her tears, Alina replied, “No, sir… no one.”
But Bella interrupted, “What about Oliver?”
Smith asked, “Who is Oliver?”
Bella explained, “Sir, Oliver was in love with Alina. One day, they had a huge fight, and Alina slapped him in front of everyone. That day, he swore revenge.”
Smith raised an eyebrow. “Did he attend the party last night?”
“Yes, sir. But he’s our friend now. He has changed,” Alina defended.
“We’ll determine that. Constables, bring in Oliver,” Smith ordered.
When confronted, Oliver denied any wrongdoing. “Sir, I only helped Bella with the party arrangements. That’s all.”
Just then, a constable handed Smith a document.
Smith read it carefully before turning back to Oliver. “Your record says you have no control over yourself. You drink, dance, and flirt with women. Are you still going to deny everything?”
“Sir, many people do these things! That doesn’t make me a murderer!” Oliver protested.
Smith slapped him. Suddenly, his phone rang.
After the call, he instructed his team to take Oliver to a location.
There, the police had already gathered.
As Alina arrived, a constable presented evidence: a men’s jacket and a wallet, both covered in blood.
William’s mother broke down. “That’s my son’s! Where is he? What happened to him?!”
Alina fell to her knees, sobbing.
Smith turned to Oliver. “Tell the truth. What did you do to William?”
“Sir, I swear, I don’t know anything,” Oliver insisted.
Smith ordered, “For now, stay available for questioning.”
As Oliver left, he glanced at Alina with an unreadable expression.
Alina, in denial, told Smith, “Sir, William isn’t dead. He can’t be dead.”
Later, she sat alone in a park, lost in memories of William and their love. He was always kind, never inappropriate, always respectful.
Bella found her and tried to console her. “Alina, you have to accept reality. The police already said—”
“No!” Alina interrupted. “My William is alive. He has to be!”
Just then, Oliver arrived.
Bella glared at him. “Why are you here? You must have done something to William!”
Oliver protested, “Bella, don’t accuse me without proof! I came to support Alina.”
Together, Bella and Oliver dropped Alina home.
Days passed. Alina isolated herself, barely eating or speaking.
Bella and her elder sister stood by her side.
One day, a postman arrived with a letter for Alina’s father. But he wasn’t home.
Alina called him, but he kept rejecting her calls.
Her sister Jolie signed for the letter, saying, “I’ll handle it.”
Alina grew uneasy. Where had her father gone? Why wasn’t he answering?
Meanwhile, Smith and his team continued their investigation.
William’s mother never stopped crying.
Then one day, Bella called Alina.
Alina picked up, only to hear something shocking on the other end.
“No!” she screamed.
What happened to Bella? What happened to William?
